The Job of a Christian
Who are you working for? Are you working for someone else's
goals? What about Christ's goals? If you can work at all, why
work at anything but God's work? We are created in Christ Jesus
unto good works, as recorded in Ephesians 2:10. "For we are his
workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God
hath before ordained that we should walk in them."
Most people work six days a week for the world and then show
up on Sunday to do the works of Christ. But this appearance of
religion on Sunday proves that it is only an appearance. Come
Monday morning, they go back to work at jobs set up by men who do
not confess Jesus Christ. How can we walk in God's "good works"
when we are working for the world?
Some say, "I take my Christianity wherever I go. When I do
my job, I do it with a good spirit. And I have a smile on my
face."
But the job of a Christian is not to put a smile on his face
and continue working for the kingdoms of this world. A Christian
is called to come out of that system.
Jesus said, "Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be
bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be
loosed in heaven," (Matthew 16:19). What He is saying is that we
have the power to make jobs for the Kingdom of Heaven. In His
name we can do that. And whatever job descriptions we set up upon
the earth, those job descriptions will be recognized in Heaven.
And the work is done in His name.
And if we loose or quit a certain job that we are doing for
the kingdoms of the world, then it will be loosed in Heaven.
The Lord has need of us. The harvest is great, but the
workers are few. The Lord is calling. It is the eleventh hour. It
is time to work for His Kingdom.
