T9909 Traffic Stop at Gunpoint

Our Heaven licensed motor home was headed down Interstate 5 to Sacramento on a missionary trip. Suddenly we saw flashing lights signaling us to pull over. We took the next exit and pulled into the first gas station. Less than a minute had elapsed since the police first signaled us to stop. As we started to get out of the motor home to greet the officer, Glen looked behind him and gasped. "They've got guns. They're pointing them at us."

What happened to the simple police stop where the officer approaches the car and asks to see a driver license? It didn't happen that way at all. They had guns trained on us immediately, before any dialog.
